The XXXVII Pan American Congress of Gastroenterology was held by the Pan American Gastroenterology Organization (OPGE), in conjunction with the XX Uruguayan Congress of Gastroenterology and the X Uruguayan Congress of Digestive Endoscopy, organized by the Society of Gastroenterology of Uruguay (SGU) and the Uruguayan Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SUED), respectively.

This congress brought together the twenty-two OPGE member Scientific Societies and some of the main leading associations in the specialty world were present, such as the World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO), the European Union of Gastroenterology (UEG), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Association of Gastroenterology (AGA), the Spanish Society of Digestive Pathology (SEPD), the Spanish Association of Gastroenterology (AEG), the Latin American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH), the Pan American Organization for Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis (PANCCO), the Spanish Working Group on Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis (GETECCU), the Roma Foundation (RF), the Latin American Society of Neurogastroenterology (SLNG), and the Uruguayan Association of Endoscopy Nursing Digestive (AUEED), among others.
